Genji Challa is the sister washing station to the renowned washing station of Nano Challa. It was opened as demand exponentially grew from local farmers for resources to process coffee cherries. Now between the two washing stations, over 600 members from the Ethiopian Highlands participate. Access to these stations has allowed farmers to choose between natural processing and washed coffees expanding their opportunities in the specialty coffee market.

Genji Challa is a Grade 1 organic coffee cultivated between 1850m and 2100m. The cherry is from a naturally indigenous heirloom variety commonly found across Ethiopia. Once delivered to the washing station, the cherries are floated in water and de-pulped. After its soaked in clean water, the beans dried in raised African drying beds for 10 days.

Genji Challa is an elegant and dynamic coffee. In this cup we are tasting stone fruit, honey, pomegranate, and hibiscus. This coffee is being served as espresso and filter brew at our cafes, now road ready in Instant Craft.
